Southern Italy, sometimes called the Mezzogiorno, is usually considered to encompass the regions south of Rome. These would include Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia, Sicily, and also Sardinia. Not as many travelers visit southern Italy as northern Italy, but I love those regions.
