Buongiorno and Ciao!
All of you who follow this blog know I have a passion for Italy and all things Italian. In the pursuit of that passion, travel to Italy becomes a way for me to satisfy that urge. My other passion is writing, and besides writing this blog for the past ten years, I write books. I appreciate how many of you have purchased my Italy travel memoirs and Italy photography book, as well as supporting my foray into the world of fiction, with my two medical thrillers. Grazie mille. In fact, one of them, A Cure for Deceit, won the silver award in th thriller genre at the 2020 Royal Palm Literary Awards by the Florida Writers Association, and also a bronze award from the 2020 Readers’ Favorite competition.
All my published books have been available on Amazon ever since they were released, and will continue there, with one exception. My hardback coffee table photography book, Colors of Naples and the Amalfi Coast, is no longer available on Amazon. Instead, I have drastically discounted the price permanently from $24.95 to $20 and free shipping in the US. You can order directly from me, with payment by PayPal and I’ll ship autographed copies from my home. Email me @margieeee49@gmail.com with your mailing address.
Published in April of 2015, this 96-page, hardcover book/coffee table book features my original photography highlighting the people, streets, traditions, places, and culture in Naples and the Amalfi Coast.
Colors of Naples and the Amalfi Coast captures Margie’s perspective in images and words. My photography has been featured in calendars, newspapers, and the lobby of a Fortune 500 company.
From the pulsating streets of Naples to the relaxing vistas of the Amalfi Coast, people, places, and traditions embody the spirit of Campania. The distinctive photography in Colors of Naples and the Amalfi Coast portrays the southern Italian culture and lifestyle in such a way that the reader will wish he or she was there.

No disrespect intended, but seeing this beautiful flower truck reminds me of a trip to a mausoleum in Napoli from our home in Praiano with dear friends. First stop…flowers. Let the “bidding” commence. Look, listen and choose the best deal. This is a component not seen in visitations to US cemetery’s. The burial site or mausoleum in this case is an exercise in homemaking. Suddenly brooms, mops, buckets and cleaning fluids appear, they are much more than window dressing. Rubber gloves on! Commence cleansing. It is an exercise in.tender toil. My dearest Italian friend asked me if we did this ‘back home’…I truthfully said that we did not. My beloved Father told my mother and me that we should never visit his grave. He said he would be present every time we experienced something meaningful. He swore he’d always be ‘all around us’. I still believe it. He died in 1978 and my Brilliant Mother in 1998. I visited her grave once. I could hear her saying that I would be better off taking her grandsons to the Beach! This said, I sincerely respect the Italian way. Everything is polished and primped. It’s Love and Devotion and a bit of Teatro too. But beautiful. Everything is shimmering clean, prayers said and another solemn ritual offered. Godspeed to those gone into the divine, dazzling universe. Respect and Honor paid. Now, off to the buffalo farm…a magical, enchanting delight awaits. Fresh (NO…made this very morning fresh!) delicacy awaits us. One of the most perfect provisions ever presented…wet and wonderful milky Buffalo mozzarella on a warm, fresh out of the oven bread roll. Nothing else. There are view times that ‘nothing else’ is crucial. This panino is the food that long passed Family will remember even more than their shiny surroundings. Viva L’Italia!
Arrivederci, Barbara McKee
