Villa Cimbrone in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast is probably best known for this outdoor Terrace of Infinity, also called the Belvedere of Infinity. Lined with sculptured marble Roman busts, the views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and coastline below are unsurpassed.
The spectacular views of the coastline make the uphill walking and numerous steps and staircases worth the effort. The undisturbed atmosphere here is inspiring, so peaceful, the antithesis to the noise and busyness of the tourist towns of this coast. I could stay here for an hour or more.
Have you seen been to Ravello?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this photo of the day, so please leave a comment.
Grazie and Ciao

A definite must-do

I enjoy your foto’s. We live in Praiano (between Positano and Amalfi). We don’t get that much foto exposure (just realized the use of a camera reference), but it’s true. Praiano has a very strong character…and a beauty that should be seen!
Thank you for your work! Arrivederci, Barbara

Thank you so much, Barbara. I’ve heard much about Praiano, and yet have only seen the beautiful presepe in the wall, driving along the autostrada. I wrote about your town as a place I’ve yet to explore, in My Amalfi Coast Love Affair….Chapter 9….”Famous for romantic sunsets and beautiful beaches, the westward facing Cala della Gavitella is the only beach on the Amalfi Coast promising sunshine all day until sunset. From here, I’m told, the view is nothing less than spectacular, with the Li Galli islands and distant island of Capri and the Faraglioni Rocks in sight.
My only experience of Praiano is from the corniche road high above the town. Its roadside presepe (Nativity scene), one of the most unique aspects of Praiano, is easily seen while traveling on the Amalfi Coast Road, SS163.”

Spectacular is the right word to describe this picture in time. You could have been a world famous photographer on any subject but I am glad that Italy calls to you the most.
