Since Italy is a peninsula with two large islands, Sardinia and Sicily, plus countless smaller islands, it’s not surprising  to discover these beach scenes in Italy.  As you know I love the beach and being near the water, so here are some of my favorite photos from the beaches and harbors of Italy. Enjoy!

I am always desperate to get in the sea on arrival. It is only once submerged that I truly feel I have arrived! Sabaudia is a gorgeous long sandy beach with a bit of wave not too far from the craziness of Rome. Loved your pic of Isola Bella in Sicily, brought back memories, although the shells/stones are a bit rough on the feet :), another favorite for me was Capri’s marina piccola.

Thanks so much Andrea. Those beaches near Rome are a welcome sight when one wishes to take a break from the city.

Belli scatti! My favourite beaches are in the Gargano area, between Vieste and Mattinata, including the Isole Tremiti. Surrounded by olive groves and dotted with trabucchi. Would love to be on one of those beaches now! Ciao, Cristina

The only thing I miss from my youth in Miami is the weekends on the water. Truly we came from the sea as it calls out to all of us. Italy and her islands are jewels in the seas that surround her.

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
