Italy Travel – Photo of the Day

An artist in Venice , Photo by Margie MiklasI always enjoy watching local artisans and artists at work. I came across this artist on a footbridge in Venice. She was so focused on her painting that I dared not interrupt.

Do you notice anything particularly interesting in this photo? I’d like to hear your thoughts. Please leave a comment.

She is so pensierosa-just totally lost in creativity. I bet she’s wondering where to place the boats. She is painting the bridge we can see, and the palazzo that is out of the photo frame. I’m feeling a weeny bit jealous. I carted my watercolour pencils all the way to Australia and didn’t even find the time to use them. I thought about it a lot though. Does that count?

I am unable to paint but, if I could, I would paint every corner of beautiful Venice. The crowds tend to circulate around St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge, so it takes just a few minutes to slip into quiet streets. I now long to go back!

I do not see any flower pot; the scene, except for the water is not reproduced in the painting. Am I looking at the same picture as everyone else? Or perhaps I need new glasses. From my point of view, the emperor has no clothes.

Every morning when I walked along Fondumenta Nani, there were several artists drawing and/or painting. I always felt like it would be an intrusion to linger, so I would quickly snap a photo and keep on walking. Like you said, they were so focused on their work. It was always such a perfect picture, no pun intended, to see this each morning, so peaceful and never any tourists around. Well, except me 🙂 – you captured that peacefulness in this photo.

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
