Città Bianca, or the White City, is the nickname given to the Italian city of Ostuni in the southern region of Puglia. All the buildings in its historic district must be painted white and from a distance the view of the city is a wondrous site.
Enjoy a photo tour with me throughout the narrow streets of this lovely town.

I hope you enjoyed a photo journey with me through Ostuni.
Have you been here before? I’d love to hear your feedback. Please leave a comment. Grazie.

Wonderful, Margie! I particularly like the old street stones and the flowers.

We spent a week in Monopoli two years ago and daytripped all over the south, Ostuni was definitely a highlight! Such a gorgeous place!!

Lovely fotos! Wanted to go to Ostuni a few weeks ago, but I went to Matera instead-and it was incredible. Ostuni next year. Ciao, Cristina

Lovely photos – what a fantastic looking city! I still need to visit Puglia…every photo I see, or thing I hear is always positive!

Yes Anna – Puglia is lovely and much less expensive than many other parts of Italy

We attended a wedding in the Cathedral of Ostuni! We sat at a cafe table (pictured in one of your photos) and had a pre-nuptial drink while we waited…and waited…and waited for the bride to appear. Finally she arrived in a convertible with her father, and there was no way to turn the car around in the narrow square. Wish I could attach my photos of the occasion!

How cool is that Pam! I wish you could post photos here too! Maybe on your Twitter site? Thank you for sharing your experience

Great photos – they remind me of Greece and I guess there was probably some influence from there somewhere down the years! Definitely on my wish list so thanks for the inspiration!

I can see the men who laid those stone paths through the citta so many years ago. I was not nearly as tantalized by the path with the concrete overlay. I am sure it was necessary but still. . What did the lady think when you snapped her pic while she was taking in or putting out her wash? Are all Italians so very polite or perhaps resigned to the photography buffs taking snaps of them?Italy has amazing landscapes and architecture but it is the people that make it special.

Ostuni!!!! Oh now I really am transported – from Brindisi to Carovigno to Ostuni. How much I loved going to the city where you couldn’t drive and having a quiet dinner. This is where I saw my first “wise guys,” something right out of Godfather (only this was before the big Don). Ostuni is magical and old and I loved the people who were so warm and welcoming. And they laughed at my terrible Italian but loved me for trying.
