Always love your photography — stories in pictures and they are so evocative! You have a knack for tapping into the real world and make it so alive for those who have never been where you go. Love these!

I love your photos! All of these scenes used to be so usual to me, growing up in Italy: I never thought I should photograph them or cherish them until I moved abroad. Now, every time I am in Italy, the camera is out and the local shop keeper who knows me from childhood thinks I am crazy to want a picture of him!

I wrote a chapter in our book, Not in a Tuscan Villa, called All in a Day’s Work. It’s about ordinary working folk–the waiters, cheese makers, the bicycle repairman, the chicken store ladies, a pottery painter and my hairdresser. It’s about the value that’s placed on their work in Italy, and how they feel about what they do.

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
