Lake Como is one of the most beautiful places I have seen and lends itself to some opportunities to capture gorgeous photos. Enjoy some Lake Como, Italy photos, from scenes in Varenna, Bellagio, Pescallo, and Menaggio.

Grazie and Ciao

Glad you like the lake. My family originate from here and I go back to visit each year but higher up the lake to Gravedona where the family live now. You should try it, as there are less tourists so you get the true italian lakeside experience….and it’s more reasonably priced.

Paolo, Grazie…I will definitely have to visit Gravedona. it sounds lovely. Thank you so much

I love Lake Como. Would thoroughly recommend the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia – close to Menaggio and just across the water from Bellagio, lovely boat trip. Huge rooms and amazing views!

E brava la Margie ;o). Foto splendide, conoscenza dei posti effettiva. Sono stato a Varenna. Keep upo the good job, you and Rick are smashing lovers and critical – right! – connoisseurs of ‘our’ Belpaese…

Absolutey loved Lake Como..We stayed at Hotel Darsena. Right on the lake in a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Your photos are way more interesting than ones I have..thanx for sharing..Liz

You are right insofar as Lake Como is an expensive area, particularly Bellagio. Many of the jobs the locals have consist of service-oriented work like the hotel and restaurant industry. The lake is huge though and has many towns with regular people who live there. The towns of Lenno and Menaggio are examples and I did go to those too. I will post some photos from those places on another day. Don’t forget Lake Como is where George Clooney owns a home.

I didn’t know George had a place there. He doesn’t tell me anything anymore!

What kind of people live here? Is this strictly the affluent and tourists? Are there locals with rented apartments? Are there homes passed down in families? I love the view of the area but would be more interested if it was the lifestyle of the usual people that I ran into in the local farmers market or even Sweet Bay. What kind of work do the residents of those little villages do? I am sure the food and shop people can stay employed. I would think the fishing fleet would be busy but only see pleasure boats. Just curious today I suppose. I just really hope that people like me live in those places and are able to enjoy the ambiance. Bonnie D.
