Writing Update and Hotel Bookings

I have had quite a few days off from the hospital and it has been wonderful because I could use that time to write. In the past week I wrote five articles for a travel website that I write for regularly.

But the best part is that I was able to concentrate on my Sicily book and I wrote an additional 7000 words this week, so I am over 20,000  words now. I am thrilled to have made this kind of progress and wish I always had this kind of time at home without other obligations. Obviously that is not happening so I have to be grateful for the time I do have to write.

Also I have been firming up some Italy plans with my brother and sister-in-law and just today finally booked the hotel in Catania after I saw that the price had unfortunately gone up rather than coming down. I think it is mostly due to the exchange rate but we decided to book it because we know we want to stay there. It is the same hotel we stayed in two years ago and we loved it.

Booking.com is a great site to use when booking hotels in Italy and even in the U.S. for that matter because you do not have to pay until you check out of the hotel. You have to secure it with a credit card, and some rates, like these in Catania, actually are non-cancellable, so that means that we are responsible for the whole cost even if we cancel. It pays to read the fine print. They have a refundable rate for quite a bit higher.

Anyway that is it for now. No book signings for at least another week, so I guess I will have a little more time for  writing. Ciao.

You have a great deal to look forward to (and so do we – as we get to read all about it!)
    cheers 🙂

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
