Photo Collage – Church Interiors in Italy

I have been so preoccupied with editing my book and getting the word out that I sort of slacked off on posting anything about Italy, and frankly doing much of anything else. So today I worked outside a little in the garden, getting rid of the weeds in order to prepare the soil to plant next month.  October is a good time to plant when you live in Florida. The activity was short-lived since I stepped into an ant hill. Thank God for aloe plants and hydrocortisone cream!

Anyway I decided to post some photos of church interiors from Italy. I must have been in over a hundred churches while I was there! They are so beautiful, even the small ones. Enjoy.

    I’m not a religious person but stepping into a church or cathedral in Europe usually cause my jaw to drop in complete awe. To see the mosaic ‘paintings’ in St Peters and artwork by Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Titian or Raphael in situ is just an amazing experience, I love popping a couple of coins in the box near the paintings and watch them light up.

    You can feel the aura of age in these buildings of worship that have survived so many years and so many problems, from invaders to poor financing and bad weather too. Awe inspiring.

    Many Italian churches are simply museums! On our last trip there, one thing that really struck me was how the art work of the churches in different regions differed from each other. Great pics Margie!

    Oh, what gorgeous pictures! Churches have always fascinated me – the glorious colors and imagery are beautiful. And, as a side note, I’m loving your book!
