
The latest news in Italy is about a tax that has been levied and it affects tourists who take excursions to any of Italy’s 36 or 37 minor islands. The beautiful island of Capri off the Amalfi Coast is one of them.
For every passenger arriving on Capri, an additional €1.50 is collected by the ferry or boat company. The island gets to keep the money, and this tax replaces a hotel tax that has expired.

The mayor of Capri estimated that the first day the new disembarkation tax went into effect, July 1st, an additional ten thousand euros were collected, just on Capri.
