Travel in Italy- Mediterranean Cruise

The shuttle came at noon to pick us up to go to Civitavecchia and I met the other passengers with whom I had been corresponding on Cruise Critic. Everyone was reallly nice and excited about the cruise.

We boarded the Norwegian Epic around 1:30 or 2 and the embarkation process was seamless. There were no lines and it was the easiest boarding of a cruise ship I have ever experienced. The ship is gorgeous and I was really excited.

When I got to my studio cabin it was great. There was plenty of room for one person and the space was very efficient. within 20 minutes my bag came and I was unpacked in not time and ready to have lunch and explore the ship. I am very impressed especially with the Living Room, which is a special lounge just for the solo passengers in the studio cabins.

There is a coffee machine there which makes cappuccino 24/7 at not charge. I think I could just stay on this ship and not go anywhere and love it.

After the lifeboat drill there was a Meet and Greet arranged by one of the other passengers who had arranged the shuttle. It was nice meeting some of the other passengers and enjoying a Cosmopolitan in the Bliss Lounge.

I think I like the idea of a break from the internet for awhile. I saw a great show tonight, Legends in Concert and then spent a little time in the casino. Tomorrow is an early day. I am going to Cinque Terre and meeting Angela there in Monterosso. Update to follow.

    Margie,
Thanks for the recommendations. I’m still trying to convince Joan to go by train then car or bus. She wants to hire a driver in Rome- $$$$$$.
Hope you had a wonderful visit.

we are currently in Rome and staying for 2 more days. We are in a hotel near the train station. We plan to take the train early tomorrow to Campobasso arriving there around 9AM. How do you recommend we get from there to Colle d Anchise. We are considering renting a car once in Campobasso.

      Hi Jan,
I sent you a message to your email, but I would recommend a car with a GPS. There also is a bus from Boiano to Coll and probably from Campobasso as well. Enjoy!

Sounds nice, I haven’t been on a ship since the 9/11 so I have never had a difficult boarding. People were happy to see us coming and my luggage got to my room before I did. Travel has sure changed since then. Now we are grateful for an “easy” boarding. The ship does sound very nice and I have never heard of a singles lounge, let alone called the living room for effect. Very smart these folks.

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
