I am always interested in the latest updates about the recovery of the beautiful village of Vernazza in the Cinque Terre and the non-profit organization, Save Vernazza has issued this latest report. After reading this I know that it will take the next two years to fully restore Vernazza in the right way.

I will be going to the Cinque Terre this spring but am not so sure that I will be able to go to Vernazza. It may be that I can only see it from a boat ride. I think it is important to support their efforts as they have already made great progress where almost every household at least now has running water. They are trying to restore the infrastructure so that this same type of devastation cannot occur again.
If you are so inclined to want to support these efforts, please consider donating to Save Vernazza.

I’m thinking Joplin needs my assistance at this time. However, I understand that there are ties that bind. I am also invovled still in the New Orleans and the Haitian disasters. I am more grounded in this area of the world but I salute all efforts at supporting those who need our help. Tomorrow it could be us. Do the right thing. And don’t send cans of soup. What all relief efforts need is cold hard cash.
