Things Are Different in Italy

Things are definitely different in Italy, and if you haven’t had the good fortune to travel there, all you have to do is read the news from Italy.

Yesterday the Italian Supreme Court ruled that having sex in a car that is parked in a public place is a felony, carrying a possible prison sentence of anywhere from three months to one year.

Just a few weeks earlier, on June 28th  the same high court, the Supreme Court of Cassation, ruled that it is legal for anyone living in Italy to grow marijuana from  balconies or  terraces.

I don’t even want to talk about the the rules when it comes to driving in Italy!

  1. I have found the answer to life

From the passenger view on foot or in vehicle…that is a rush isn’t it? I was told as a pedestrian not to look at the cars that are coming dangerously fast to the intersection, as that would signal to them they can go..You just focus on the walking light and keep walking. At the same time however, you feel the quick rush of wind around you as the scooters rush past ,just inches away from your body.
I was also told that they enforce the driving on the highways strictly. Was told that the police have a device that when they stop you , can be plugged into any vehicle and it will give the authority a read out on when you were driving, speeding etc and hence will issue you the appropriate ticket also if needed.
Many of the places I found quieter as the streets are so narrow that you instinctively learn very quickly how to listen for cars behind you, and then step aside placing your back against the wall of a building to let them pass.
The lesson that I learnt the quickest was “when in Rome do as the Romans do”….walk fast to cross the street…..

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
