Frecciarossa – Italy’s Fastest Train

I have just made reservations online to take the Frecciarossa from Rome to Salerno! This high-speed train  will get me there in just two hours as it travels at speeds up to 350 km an hour! The Trenitalia web site is not that hard to maneuver, especially since there is an English version now. Once you register, you can make reservations and then purchase the tickets either online or  in Italy. Up until the last year and a half, you could not book seats more than 60 days in advance. In 2009 Trenitalia changed the time frame to 90 days. This definitely saves time waiting in lines and worrying about whether there will be any seats left. Less than four weeks to go!

I can feel the excitement in the air. I used to love to travel but somehow lost it. I settled for PBS travels and an arm chair. Margie may be creating a new dawn in my day as well as hers! I wonder if I still have a decent set of luggage in the attic. . .

I’m just wondering what is the difference between the First Class and Second Class. Which do you go for and why?

I have been going second class so far, and the seats are fine. I think that first class allows you to have a private compartment, which may be good for an overnight trip. I am not completely sure, as I have not taken any trains in this category. You may want to check out the Trenitalia website (English version) and there may be more information regarding 1st and 2nd class.

I'm always interested in your thoughts, so please leave a comment.
